Demarcus Lawrence
Defensive End (4-3, 3-4 OLB)
Height: 6’3", Weight: 251 lbs
Boise State
Strengths: Lawrence is quite the football player. He has a tall frame and he is a speed rusher for sure. He is scheme versatile, very athletic, and has many pass rush techniques in his aresenal. He was not asked to drop into coverage very much, but he has the athleticism and frame to play 3-4 OLB.
Weaknesses: In the two games I watched, some issues do make themselves apparent. Demarcus has balance issues, as he does fall down quite a bit when he is beat by tackles. Some scouts worry that Lawrence is a tweener prospect, and would lacks the size to play defensive end and lack the speed to play outside linebacker.
Bottom Line: I really like watching this guy plays football. He is a high effort player and he is always near the ball. If he falls to the Redskins at 34, I would not be shocked if they draft him. Most would say the Redskins have other needs, but a 3-13 team has lots of needs. The Redskins have not exactly committed to Brian Orakpo.
Projected round: 1-2
Team he fits best on: Packers, Cardinals, 49ers, Redskins, Falcons, and Patriots
