Washington Redskins Draft Profiles: Ryan Shazier, OLB

Gregory Shamus

Ryan Shazier

Outside Linebacker (4-3)

Height: feet 6’2", Weight: 230 lbs

Ohio State

Strengths: Shazier recorded 144 tackles (102 solo and 23.5 TFL), 7 sacks, 4 passes defended, and 4 forced fumbles. He is an athletic outside linebacker that always chases down the football. His pursuit is one of his greatest strengths. Shazier was productive in his three seasons with Ohio State and his pass rushing production is encouraging.

Weaknesses: Scouts worry about his ability to get bigger because he is leaner and not likely to be able to bulk up. He can also have issues in coverage and he has a history with minor injuries that have caused him to miss game time.

Bottom Line: Ryan Shazier has been a productive 4-3 outside linebacker that has been extremely productive. His coverage skills are questionable, but he is a good linebacker that can put pressure on the quarterback.

Projected round: 1-2

Team he fits best on: Bucs, Cowboys, Bears, Falcons, ant Titans
