Video: Interview with Joe Gibbs Talking 0-2 Starts

Joe Gibbs was the honorary roastee tonight in a benefit for the District of Columbia College Access Program (DC-CAP). I got to sit down with the three-time Super Bowl coach and talk a variety of fun topics including 0-2 starts.

Michael Wilbon and James Brown MC'd their annual Celebrity Roast with this year's guest roastee being Joe Gibbs. They raised over $100,000 tonight for a great cause. DC-CAP's mission is to encourage and enable DC public and public charter high school students to enroll in and graduate from college. They do this by providing individual and group counseling, financial aid assistance, scholarship programs, parent education, college application assistance and college student support.

Joe Gibbs was made available to the media and I was able to talk to coach regarding the following topics:

  • Joe Gibbs started 0-2 in 1984 and 1989. I asked him what the week of practice is like going into week three.
  • Right before the interview, Harrison told me that Fred Smoot takes credit for Joe Gibbs' return. I ask Gibbs if that's the case and press him on how much Dan Snyder wooed him and what the story is there.
  • If he realizes he is still The Godfather, where no matter how frustrating the team gets, him making a public quote of optimism calms down the fan base.
  • I deliver two Joe Gibbs roast jokes I wrote and ask him to rank it 1-10.
