Redskins outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan has passed tests for a possible concussion and is expected to practice with the team on Wednesday.
The report from 106.7 The Fan's Grant Paulsen is welcome news to the Redskins, who were without Kerrigan for part of the fourth quarter in a game where they needed all hands on deck. The defense will need as much help as it can get once again in Week Two with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers next on the schedule.
Kerrigan was an immediate presence for the Redskins in their season opener, logging eight tackles, three hurries, a sack and batting a backward pass from Michael Vick that resulted in a long touchdown.
If the Redskins want to salvage any momentum from an encouraging second-half performance on Monday night, it won't hurt to have one of their top playmakers at a full-go this week. For Kerrigan, that seems like it will be the case.
