My Letter to Bruce Allen

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Dear Bruce,

I want to personally thank you for all you have done to restore the pride to our beloved Washington Redskins. Your attention to detail, organization, relentless work ethic, and tremendous dedication to the team, and all that we stand for, has not gone unnoticed, even by the most casual fan. After watching years of Vinny Cerrato, I can say with certainty that you are a breath of fresh air!

Having said this, I do however have some concerns that I would like to bring to your attention.

Does Tyler Polumbus have any incriminating photographs of Mike Shanahan?  I ask this question in all seriousness, because unless the answer to this question is yes, I can't see how the man should be starting for our football team at right tackle. Most Redskins fans, including myself, can't figure out why coach Shanahan keeps trotting out the cumbersome linemen. As you are aware, the future of this team rests on the arm(and legs)of Robert Griffin III, and continuing to ask Polumbus to protect our star quarterback is like asking a Pop Warner linemen to slow down J.J. Watt. We fans realize the situation you were put in over the last two years by that meddling owner from the Giants, whos name I won't mention, and how the cap penalty hurt our offseason plans, but surly we can find a better candidate to protect the most valuable player in franchise history than Tyler Ploumbus.  There is a young player on the team named Tom Compton.  Have you met him yet?  He's been doing a pretty good job out there as a back-up left tackle. Maybe you could approach Coach Shanahan with the idea of giving this young player a chance on the right side. He can't be ANY worse than our incumbent starter.

My second concern revolves around the safety position. I have two questions. First, what do you plan on doing with Tenard Jackson?  Will he be a part of the team in 2013?  I know he's had some issues in the past, but I feel we may really need him this season, especially with the recent injury to Phillip Thomas, and the question marks surrounding Brandon Merriweather's health. I know Jackson is not exactly what you'd call a model player, but when he is on the field, he is a pretty good center-field safety. Second, is Reed Doughty married to any of the Redskins coaches/executives daughters?  I know this sounds quite condescending in nature, but I see no other logical explanation as to why he continues to make this football team.  From a fan perspective, I would ask that you strongly consider NOT having him as one of the starters at ANY safety position moving forward. If he's being kept for special teams, I understand and accept that decision, but when I see him in coverage, I want to turn off my television. If you have a good working relationship with coach Haslett, could you please pass along this last concern.

Finally, do you have a policy in place to help assist our players with supplement choices?  Maybe a personal shopper would be a good idea. It has become a concern that our players can't seem to read labels on items they buy from their local GNC or Vitamine Shoppe. Is there a chance that Mr. Snyder would consider opening up a nutrition store at Redskins Park, and stocking the shelves with NFL approved supplements?  I'm sure he could even get away with a 30% markup on all the products, and tie that into convenience.  Just something to think about during the season.

Again, I'd like to reiterate my thanks to you and all the coaches, staff and personell for all you have done to bring this team back into the national spotlight. You exemplify all that makes this orginazation great, and your hard work has not gone unnoticed.

I hope this letter finds you well. I look forward to celebrating another division championship, and taking the next steps towards bringing a fourth Super Bowl trophy to our nations capital.

Warmest regards,

Mark Tyler
