Practice report: RG3 sharp | Rich Tandler's Real Redskins
RICHMOND—Here’s my look at today’s Redskins practice, first with a look at Robert Griffin III’s day and then a walk around a few other notable events. (Note: just to mix it up we're shifting back to the old school, non-Twitter report for the last practice report of the year.

Observations from Thursday’s practice at Redskins training camp
The Redskins suffered a scare when linebacker Brian Orakpo left practice with a leg injury and was checked both on the field, and then in the trainers’ tent. Orakpo said as he headed to the locker room after practice that he didn’t believe the injury to be very serious, and the team announced a short time later that he had suffered a thigh bruise. Vic So’oto and Rob Jackson split time working with the first team defense in place of Orakpo.

Kyle Shanahan embraces challenge of remaining ahead of defenses
"I’m looking forward to seeing how they do it, and I’m sure, I mean, there’s a lot of smart coaches out there, and guys can stop anything they want to stop," Shanahan said after Thursday’s practice. "That’s what we know as a coaching staff, we know as an offense, our players and everything."

Haslett says Redskins have ‘looked at endless film on Oregon’ to ready for Chip Kelly’s offense
"We’ve looked at endless film on Oregon," Haslett said. "It’s a little bit different because they do some things in college they can’t do up here. But it’s basically the same, what we saw on film last week [in the Eagles’ preseason opener]. I think Chip will do a great job there because they’ve got great skill players on offense. … So I think they’ll be successful in what they do and how they do it. But hopefully we’ll play well in that first game."

Robert Griffin III report - NFC East Blog - ESPN
He completed 14 of 15 passes during work against the scout team, again running a variety of plays. Griffin took 21 snaps, five more than he did the previous day -- his first time in any sort of 11-on-11 drills. "I thought he was really sharp today," Redskins quarterbacks coach Matt LaFleur said. "I didn’t see a lot of hesitation in his decision making. His footwork was clean. He had a good day."

Redskins anxious for zone read adjustments - NFC East Blog - ESPN
"It’s not necessarily, ‘How do they stop the zone read and how are we going to make the zone read work?’ " Shanahan said. "It’s like, ‘All right, this works good. It’s not great to run the zone read versus this look. What other play do we have that is awesome versus this look? Let’s get good at that because eventually we are going to see this look and when we see this look we don’t want to run it. Are we going to be able to execute this other play that they’ve just opened up?’ That’s really what we’ve been trying to get good at."

For the defense to make another step forward, Amerson and Rambo are going to have to play big parts. Maybe not Griffin/Morris-level parts, but not far from that.
