Career Summary: Tanard Jackson, a Maryland native, played cornerback for Syracuse. His career college numbers include 165 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, and 5 interceptions. Over his NFL career, Jackson has shown flashes of ability. As many Redskins fans know well, Jackson had issues with violating the leagues substance abuse policy. Jackson was suspended for the entire 2012 season shortly after he signed with the Redskins and he is expected to be back for the 2013 season.

What is coming in 2013: While the Redskins organization would welcome back Tanard Jackson "with open arms" now, his roster spot with the Redskins is in jeopardy for this season. The Redskins committed their draft to getting new defensive backs, and Bacarri Rambo and Phillip Thomas have been getting positive reviews during training camp. While the safety positions are still in question for the Redskins, Jackson has not played football in a year and he missed 37 games with Tampa Bay during his 5 years with the team. Jackson will be able to rejoin the team August 31st and if he is ready to play, he could make the roster because of the uncertainty at the safety position. As much as I would love to root for a local guy, his frequent drug suspensions make hope the Redskins are not counting on him to be around this season.
