What is coming in 2013: The former 3rd round pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2010 draft will compete this season to make the 2013 Redskins squad. Murphy will have an opportunity to compete for a spot on the team since the defensive backs unit is looking to improve from the overall poor performance from last season. Murphy was an effective two year starter for South Florida that was described in his pre-draft profiles as an instinctive player and good run supporter. Murphy had some issues in college with footwork and not finishing his tackles, which are huge problems to have at the professional level. He will get some playing time during training camp and the preseason games to show his skills, but I think it is unlikely he will make the team. Murphy struggled with injuries during his time with the Rams and he has had trouble sticking to any team since, but his luck may change with the Redskins if he can stay healthy.
