Who Do You Think Will Be Starting Week 1? The Safeties

Who do you think will be the starter for week 1? Vote and comment below to let me know what you think.

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE

What if I told you I knew who would be the starting safeties for the Redskins this year? Good thing I am not, because that would make me a liar. Last year, Brandon Meriweather and Tanard Jackson were projected to start at strong and free safety respectively. That didn’t work out so well. Time at the strong safety position last year was split between Reed Doughty, DeJon Gomes, and Jordan Pugh. Madieu Williams was the starting free safety last year and he will likely not be with the Redskins this year.

If Meriweather is healthy, he is expected to be the starting strong safety. If he is not healthy, Doughty is likely to be the starting strong safety (again). Tanard Jackson is still a possibility at free safety, but by 2013 rookies Phillip Thomas and Bacarri Rambo could challenge Jackson for the starting job and playing time. Who do you think will be the starting safeties week 1? Will the veterans we planned on starting actually play? Or will the rookies make an impact in training camp and start week 1?
