Yesterday I did my final Big Board. Today I will put together my final mock draft for the Redskins.
2nd - Johnthan Banks(CB - Miss St.) 6'2" 185: This seems like the right spot for Banks to go, and it represents good value for the Redskins, as the one-time first round prospect has fallen a bit due to a below-average 40 time. Still, he has the height, aggressiveness and ball skills to fit into any defense, and shoudl work his way onto the field early in sub packages. The most important part is that Banks gets seasoned, so he can take over a starting role in 2014.
Option 2 - Terrance Williams(WR - Baylor) 6'2" 208: Williams is a long-strider with good hand-eye coordination, and plus size. He fits perfectly as the Z receiver to compliment Garcon. He is a willing blocker, and shows this skill well on tape. Former teammate of RG3.
3rd - Bacarri Rambo(FS - Georgia) 6'1" 211: Rambo has the ability to step in and play immediately at safety. He displays good speed, instincts and hitting ability, and did all this while playing in the toughest conference in college football.
Option 2 - Dwayne Gratz(CB - UConn) 5'11" 201: Wreh-Wilson was stealing all the headlines at UConn, but Gratz had a great season in his own right, garnering second-team All Big East honors. He has plus size and speed.
4th - Kenjon Barner(RB - Oregon) 5'9" 196: Barner could become the change-of-pace back the Redskins need. He shows good speed and hands, and is a nightmare in the open field.
Option 2 - Brennan Williams(OT - NC) 6'6" 318: Williams was hurt in 2012, so his stock took a hit, but he is a massive right tackle prospect with excellent feet.
5th - Robert Lester(FS/SS - Alabama) 6'2" 215: Lester is a guy I have dropping, but if we can secure his services in the 5th, he'd be a steal.
Option 2 - Nico Johnson(LB - Alabama) 6'2" 248: Johnson may be a better run stuffer than he is in pass coverage, but a year learning under London Fletcher could help greatly.
5th - Nick Kasa(TE - Colorado) 6'6" 269: Kasa is a great blocker with surprising speed and athleticism.
Option 2 - Braxston Cave(C - Notre Dame) 6'3" 303: Good zone blocker, and leader of the Notre Dame offensive line.
6th - Sheldon Price(CB - UCLA) 6'2" 190: Price has great length, but doesn't play up to his size. He could use some time in the weight room, but coaches would certainly have something to work with here.
Option 2 - Marcus Davis(WR - VTech) 6'3" 233: Plus size and speed, but has never lived up to his potential.
7th - Mike Mauti(LB - PSU) 6'2" 243: Mauti is a team leader and great locker room presence. If he can come back to form from the knee injury, he could be a steal.
Option 2 - Dominick Reyes(S - Stony Brook) 6'4" 220: This monster safety possesses great speed and hitting ability. Can be a special teams contributor from day one.
