Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan reported Monday night that the Redskins are bringing back cornerback DeAngelo Hall for a one-year deal worth $2.25 million.
Hall, who was released by the Redskins prior to the start of 2013's free agency period, was set to make $7.5 million in 2013 and $9 million in 2014 under his previous contract. But after Hall drew interest from multiple teams during his three weeks as a free agent, Hall said in an interview on 106.7 The Fan that he will officially sign a new contract with the Redskins on Tuesday.
Hall is well known for having a reputation of giving up big plays as well as making them, and is coming off of a season with 95 combined tackles, four interceptions and 14 defended passes with the Redskins. Hall also allowed 75 catches for 1,045 yards, with both marks being the second-highest totals in the NFL in 2012.
Like most of the team, Hall struggled prior to the bye week, but played his best football during the Redskins' seven-game win streak to close out the regular season. His most impressive performance came on Week 17, when he limited Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant to four receptions and just eight yards after the catch to help the Redskins clinch their first NFC East title in over a decade.
The Redskins have also hosted free agent cornerback Antoine Winfield, who most recently played for the Minnesota Vikings. Despite Hall's signing, it doesn't necessarily rule-out the possibility of Winfield coming to Washington, although it's likely that an extension, restructure or coinciding release of a current player would have to happen to accommodate the 35-year-old veteran.
