Bruce Allen says Redskins won’t change name | WashingtonExaminer.com
"There’s nothing that we feel is offensive and we’re proud of our history," Allen said at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Redskins’ training camp in Richmond on Thursday. "To suggest that players and coaches and fans are thinking any other way doesn’t make sense…It’s ludicrous to think that we’re trying to upset anyone."
Offseason Questions: Will the Redskins re-sign Kory Lichtensteiger?
“I hope I’m here still,” Lichtensteiger said the day after the Redskins’ playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks. “I honestly do hope that. I don’t want to leave this system. I don’t want to leave these coaches and I don’t want to leave my teammates. I think the best-case scenario for me is if I get a new deal here. But at the same time, you’ve got to explore all the options. So I’ll just see what happens and see who wants to talk to me.”
What, exactly, is the hurry with RG III? - NFC East Blog - ESPN
He's a tough kid, a hyper-motivated kid and a determined kid, and all of that is admirable. But the responsible adults around him need to have learned their lessons from what happened early last month in that game. And the most important lesson of all is to be unbelievably careful here. Whether Griffin can play in Week 1 of 2013 should not be the Redskins' primary concern. They need to be thinking about all of the Week 1s to come.

Redskins notes: Cap battle, Davis update; new turf? | WashingtonExaminer.com
"We’ve looked at that. We missed an opportunity last year. We had a window between the seventh [home game] and the 10th game to re-sod it. … Once the schedule comes out our people are ready to commit to a schedule so we have some new sod at the end of the year. We think that will address the playing field in December and hopefully in January." Allen said they will not install Field Turf.

Redskins to continue fighting salary cap penalty - Washington Times
The Redskins continue to consider ways to fight the penalty that reduces their 2013 salary cap by $18 million, general manager Bruce Allen said Thursday. Allen, however, would not specify what actions the team is considering. "We’re going to address more of that later," he said. "I’m not trying to hide behind anything. But we’re still having some conversations, and we’ll see where that goes. "I think the penalty was wrong, and it was unfair. We will deal with that."

To tag or not to tag: Kenny Phillips - NFC East Blog - ESPN
So, I get this email this morning from Paul Kuharsky, who's got the Colts and Titans looking for help at safety and was working on this column about how the market could dry up quickly because the franchise-tag number for safeties is going to be so low. Something like $6.8 million, lower than any position but tight end and kicker/punter. Paul wanted to know what I thought the chances were of the New York Giants using their franchise player designation on safety Kenny Phillips.
What becomes of Nick Foles in Philly? - NFC East Blog - ESPN
Trading Foles at this point could be a huge mistake, unless you were getting back, say, a high second-round pick. I would guess there will be teams asking; plenty of people in the NFL understand that Super Bowls tend to be won with a quarterback's arm and head, not with his feet.
