Mike Shanahan fired by the Washington Redskins

After four roller coaster seasons, Dan Snyder has decided to fire Mike Shanahan and void the fifth year of his contract. Here's a timeline of Mike Shanahan's tenure in D.C.

The end is here as the Washington Redskins have fired head coach Mike Shanahan as many expected, according to the Washington Post.

And now it's official:

Daniel Snyder's statement:

"Redskins fans deserve a better result. We thank Mike for his efforts on behalf of the Redskins. We will focus on what it takes to build a winning team, and my pledge to this organization and to this community is to continue to commit the resources and talent necessary to put this team back in the playoffs."
