Redskins Recap: Redskins Go For Win, but Come up Short, Falcons 27, Redskins 26

1^st Quarter

-The Redskins kick off to start the game and the Falcons return the ball to their own 17-yard line. The Falcons converted a 3 huge 3^rd downs on their opening drive. Drive ends on a rushing touchdown by Steven Jackson. Falcons 7, Redskins 0. 8:14 in the 1^st remaining.

-The Redskins start with the ball on their own 20-yard line. After a few nice plays from Kirk Cousins, the Flacons strip Cousins and start with the ball on their own 36-yard line.

-Tony Gonzalez strikes. Touchdown catch from Matt Ryan. Falcons 14, Redskins 0. 3:52 remains in the 1^st quarter.

-The Redskins start with the ball on their own 20-yard line. After a big play by Alfred Morris, Kirk Cousins throws a touchdown to Fred Davis. Falcons 14, Redskins 7. 48 seconds remain in the 1^st quarter.

2^nd Quarter

-The Redskins defense sacks Matt Ryan on third down and the Falcons are forced to punt. The Redskins have another special teams mistake and the Falcons have the ball in the red zone. On the next play, Ryan Kerrigan forces a fumble and is recovered by Orakpo. On the next play, Santana Moss fumbles after a nice pass from Cousins. Turnovers everywhere.

3^rd Quarter

-The Redskins start the half with the ball and start on their own 20-yard line. The Redskins 3 and out and are forced to punt. The Falcons start with the ball on their own 42-yard line. The Falcons drive down to the goal line and turn the ball over on downs.

-The Redskins start with the ball on their own 1-yard line and Cousins throws an interception that is returned to the 1-yard line. What a weird game.

-Steven Jackson scores a 1-yard TD. Falcons 24, Redskins 20. 8:13 remains in the half.

-Redskins start with the ball on their own 20-yard line. The Redskins are forced to punt after a 3 and out. After a nice punt, the Falcons will start with the ball at their own 20-yard line. The falcons are forced to pun after failing to convert a 3^rd and really long due to a personal foul penalty. The Redskins start with the ball on their 15-yard line.

4^th Quarter

-The Redskins 3 and out and are forced to punt. The Falcons start with the ball on their own 17-yard line. The Falcons are forced to a 3 and out after a sack. The Redskins fair catch it at their own 28-yard line.

-After a very productive drive, Alfred Morris fumbled the ball in the Red zone. Atlanta Falcons ball.

-After a short drive, the Falcons are forced to punt the ball. The Redskins return the ball to their own 17-yard line. After another intercepton by Kirk Cousins, the Falcons kick a field goal. Falcons 27, Redskins 20. 3:25 remains in the game. 2:00 minute warning with the Redskins driving.

-Kirk Cousins drives 80-yards and throws a touchdown pass to Santana Moss with 18 seconds left in the game. The Redskins go for the win with the 2-point conversion and fail. Falcons 27, Redskins 26. I am totally speechless.

-On side kick attempt fails. End of Game

Important Game Notes:

-The Redskins had 7 turnovers in the game. Unacceptable. (2 Fumbles Alfred Morris, 2 Fumbles Santana Moss, 2 Interceptions and 1 Fumble from Kirk Cousins.)

-Kirk Cousins played decently against a weak defensive unit. Not that surprising.

-I believe Pierre Garcon broke the Redskins reception record for a season. Kudos.

-Going for the win was stupid. Sonny always says "take the points." Maybe Sonny should be in our bracket for "Next Redskins Head Coach"
