HH's Hump Day NFL Pick'em - Week 15

Guess what day it is??? Mike Harar continues his weekly pick'em contest.

This past Sunday was a catastrophe in the minds of many Redskins fans, and for me and the Hump Day Pick'em staff, it was no different. As we sat by the office fire most of the day, watching football and drinking copious amounts of eggnog, we noticed that, while the Redskins had played one of the worst games of the season, we were having one of our best performances. We finished with a record of 11-5, giving us a season high 11 points. Would it be enough to hold off the wolfish contestants? Here were the Week 14 results:

Alas, even my record breaking week was not enough to beat three of the contestants, and two of you were tied at the top with 12. As is the norm, representatives from Ernst & Young drove out to our DC offices in the sleet and snow to observe the winner being chosen by our lovely staff member. The winner was:

Michi_medium

Congrats to Michimore Wizskins!!!!! Please email me your address and I will get your prize right out to you.

My record this week of 11-5 pushed my season totals to 93-109-7. If I continue at this pace, I will be breaking .500 in no time. With that great news, we continue on to Week 15.

Once again, for those of you who are new to our game, I state the rules:

This is a weekly contest in which I will make my game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.

I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice. I will add up the points at the end of each week, and if there is one clear winner who beats me, that winner will earn a fabulous prize that will then be mailed to them. If there are multiple contestants tied for the lead who have beaten me, there will be a drawing to determine the overall winner. There will only be ten contestants other than me, so the first ten responses will get in.

Each week the prize will change and some weeks there will be no winner at all, as I will have made the most correct choices or tied for the lead with one or more contestants. Simple right??

Here are my picks for this week:

Thursday

San Diego Chargers (+10.5) at Denver Broncos: I like the Broncos in this game, and anyone who disagrees with me can stick it where the sun don't shine. (That felt so empowering!). Pick: Broncos (-10.5)

Sunday

Washington Redskins (+6) at Atlanta Falcons: Will the Redskins win another game this season? More importantly, will Mike Shanahan be watching this game from the sidelines or from his sofa while sipping on Wild Turkey? I'm kind of leaning towards sofa and Wild Turkey. Pick: Falcons (-6)

San Francisco 49ers (-5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: After their big win last week against the Bills, Greg Schiano was hoping this game would get flexed to Sunday night so he could sleep in on game day. Pick: 49ers (-5)

Arizona Cardinals (-3) at Tennessee Titans: The 8-5 Cardinals are not used to being a winning team, and are still adjusting to the moment when opposing teams' fans boo instead of cheer when they come out onto the field. Pick: Cardinals (-3)

New Orleans Saints (-5.5) at St. Louis Rams: Last week, Drew Brees became the fifth player in league history to surpass the 50,000 yards passing mark for his career, joining Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, and John Elway. Ironically, later that day, Kellen Clemens got his fifth stamp on his Subway card and earned two free chocolate chip cookies. Pick: Saints (-5.5)

Seattle Seahawks (-7) at New York Giants: Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was so distraught after their loss in San Francisco last week that even the double shot extra whip Gingerbread latte his assistant brought him from Starbucks didn't help. Pick: Seahawks (-7)

Chicago Bears (+2.5) at Cleveland Browns: I was way ahead of the curve on this one when I said at the beginning of the season that Campbell-to-Gordon and McCown-to-Jeffery would be two of the hottest QB-WR duos in the league by Week 15. Pick: Bears (+2.5)

Houston Texans (+6) at Indianapolis Colts: The Texans have a real struggle on their hands to stay ahead of the Redskins for the number one spot in the draft next season. Pick: Colts (-6)

Buffalo Bills (-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars have covered up all but 500 seats on the lower level in the stadium to try to ensure a sellout. Pick: Jaguars (+2)

New England Patriots (-2.5) at Miami Dolphins: Everything is starting to come together nicely for my Non-team of Destiny. We still have a few WWLTD bracelets left if anyone is interested. Pick: Dolphins (+2.5)

Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5) at Minnesota Vikings: The Eagles are looking to win their sixth straight game this week in Minnesota. Quarterback Nick Foles feels a little more confident about his spot as the starter as well, because head coach Chip Kelly has started saying "Hi" back to him when they pass each other in the hallway. Pick: Eagles (-4.5)

New York Jets (+11) at Carolina Panthers: "Super Cam", as he refers to himself, will go head-to-head against the Jets' Geno "No Nickname" Smith. Look for early carnage in this one. Pick: Panthers (-11)

Kansas City Chiefs (-4) at Oakland Raiders: After last weekend's trip to the NFL's version of Disneyland (FedEx Field), the Chiefs only slightly come back to reality in this week's matchup in the NFL's version of EuroDisney. Pick: Chiefs (-4)

Green Bay Packers (N/A) at Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys are now feeling the full wrath of being chosen as the Hump Day Pick'em staff's Team of Destiny (insert evil laugh)!!! Or maybe Tony Romo is just doing his thing again. Pick: Packers (N/A)

Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers: Wow - how the mighty Steelers have fallen. Now at 5-8, they are in the rare position of being the playoff spoiler. On the plus side, they managed to get through the whole game last week with having any coaches penalized for tackling. Pick: Bengals (-3)

Monday

Baltimore Ravens (+6) at Detroit Lions: If the playoff games started today, both of these teams would be in. Then by tonight, both of them would be out. Pick: Lions (-6)

So there are my Week 15 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to:

Stocking_medium

That's right - it's the dark blue mystery stocking!!!! All we can tell you is that the object hidden inside will assist the lucky winner in helping them get through the last three Redskins games.

I will announce this week's results and the winner (if there is one) next Wednesday on the next Hump Day post.

Good luck!!
