New York Giants
- The Green Bay Packers lost Aaron Rodgers to a fractured collarbone, and it is not known how long Rodgers will be out for. But what does this have to do with the NFC East? Because the next two teams on the Packers' schedule, the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, will likely get to face an Aaron Rodgers-less Packers team. Seneca Wallace will be the team's option under center versus two teams attempting to ascend the NFC East standings.
- Meanwhile, the Giants are coming off of a bye week, which after a 2-6 start, is a welcome occurrence. The team remains 2.5 game out of the division lead, and though that is not the worst-case scenario for a team that started 0-6, their chances remain. This week, they will face an Oakland Raiders team that their rival Eagles decimated 49-20 in Week 9. Big Blue View's Ed Valentine examines what the Giants could learn from their divisional foes.
- The halfway point of the season can also serve as a good time to assess a team's performance as well as the pace that they are on. Big Blue View took a look at how advanced NFL metrics website Pro Football Focus graded and measured individual Giants players in several categories.
Philadelphia Eagles (by: Sean Patterson)
- Well, the Eagles may have found their franchise quarterback. I know, I know, it is still the Raiders. But throwing seven touchdown passes? Look at all of the legends that have done that! Wait...I have never heard of most of the people on that list of the "Seven TD Club." I see your point Nick Foles skeptics. Nick Foles also had a perfect passer rating in his 406 yard 7 touchdown performance. That's impressive. The Eagles offense had zero turnovers, 21 first downs, and had a 22:06 time of possession. Regardless of opponent, it is still an impressive win the Eagles can build on in a tight NFC East.
- After Vick re-injured his hamstring against the Giants, it looks like the timetable for his return is being completely thrown out the window. Vick is very unlikely to play against the Packers on Sunday and it is unclear when he will return.
- Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly is still not committing to Nick Foles as his starting quarterback. Kelly says the starter at qb is still "based on health." However, Coach Kelly did point out that Foles one bad game this season against the Cowboys was "the exception, not the rule." While Kelly is being non-committal, it does not sound like Vick is coming back any time soon and Foles should continue to be the Eagles starting quarterback.
Dallas Cowboys (by: Mike Harar)
- Tony Romo completed 34 of 51 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns as the Cowboys beat the Vikings 27-23 last Sunday. After he threw an interception late in the fourth quarter that seemed to doom the Cowboys, Minnesota was unable to capitalize and gave Romo another possession with 2:44 left in the game. He then led his team down the field and threw a game winning touchdown strike to Dwayne Harris with 35 seconds remaining, pushing Dallas' record to 5-4.
- Similar to his actions in Week 8 on the sidelines, Dez Bryant threw another tantrum during the game. Only this time, it was on the field. He was called for offensive pass interference and drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when took his helmet off to complain to the referee. He later stated he was unaware of the rule.
- DeMarcus Ware missed his third consecutive game with a strained right quadriceps. Fellow starters Miles Austin and Morris Claiborne also sat out as they continue to battle hamstring injuries.
