Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan will have his behavior reviewed by the NFL after verbally accosting the officials who called his team's game against the Cincinnati Bengals after the game.

After a contentious argument resulted in Shanahan, the son of head coach Mike Shanahan, being charged with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty with seven seconds left, Shanahan followed the referees into the tunnel. There, he expressed his displeasure:

ESPN 980 reported that Shanahan said: "You have no (expletive) balls, you are a (expetiving expletive.)"

The replacement referees in charge of the game had badly mishandled the final few seconds of play, initially incorrectly assessing the Redskins with a 10-second runoff that would have ended the game before correcting themselves. Shanahan initially argued with the referees while trying to get them to make the correction, but something he said triggered the unsportmanlike conduct penalty, which was then marked out as a 20-yard penalty instead of only 15 yards.

Shanahan will probably face a fine as the league tries to protect the officials refereeing games until the regular referees return from a strike.
