A lot of good college football games today so feel free to comment here on what you are watching, but I wanted to highlight three players to keep an eye on for draft purposes:
S T.J. McDonald, USC:- 7:30 vs Stanford
-McDonald is one of the many top safeties in this class and currently projected in the late 1st- early 2nd round range. He's the son of former Pro Bowl safety Tim McDonald, and has that level of upside. He has excellent size and could fit well into a Redskins system that would ask him to be versatile. It's a strong safety class and while he'll have good measurables, he probably won't blow people away which could allow him to fall to the Skins. With Tanard Jackson suspended and Merriweather a question mark safety figures to be a major need next season, one that McDonald could fill.
OT Brennan Williams, UNC- 3:30 vs Louisville
-Williams is the son of an NFL DL Brent Williams who played in the early 90's. His son though will make a name for himself on the other side of the ball. Williams is one of the promising young offensive linemen on a stacked UNC squad. He projects for either tackle spot and figures to do well as a pass blocker given his athletic ability. UNC is moving to a spread system, so he'll have some experience with some of the new wrinkles the Redskins are running. Right now he has a lot of upside, but this season will be big in determining how high in the draft he can rise. He could be sitting there in the 2nd round for the Redskins and would make a very interesting bookend option to Trent Williams.
G Alvin Bailey, Arkansas- 3:30 vs Alabama
-Though Bailey is only a junior he's well on NFL prospect radars as an intriguing interior lineman prospect (may even project to RT as well). Though he's bigger than what you'd typically expect for a guard prospect, don't let his size fool you, he's very good on the move and could project well to a zone system. Right now he looks to be about a 4th round prospect, and should be in that range if he declares. He faces of a tough Alabama defense today so it will be a nice test for him.
