We're almost there... the Redskins last preseason game is this Wednesday as they take on the dreaded Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Raheem Morris Bowl. By Saturday the Skins will cut their roster down to 53, which means 20 or so more players will be sent packing. Who will be gone from the receivers group?
Pierre Garcon (UP/LOCK): Garcon continued a solid preseason by catching three balls for 29 yards. He obviously had nothing to worry about this preseason, but it was great to see him playing well.
Santana Moss (UP/LOCK): Moss seems to have found a very productive role in the slot. He only had one catch for four yards on Saturday but it was a touchdown!
Josh Morgan (UP/8): Morgan was another Redskin that had a solid game on Saturday. The DC native had two catches for 24 yards and a touchdown.
Leonard Hankerson (DOWN/6): Hankerson disappeared in the game against the Colts catching only one pass for three yards. Despite the lack luster performance the sophomore still has a firm grasp on a roster spot.
Dezmon Briscoe (UP/6): Did the Redskins get a steal from the Buccaneers? Briscoe was the Skins top receiver on Saturday registering two catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. If he remains solid against his former team tomorrow then he should be a lock to make the roster.
Aldrick Robinson (DOWN/5): Robinson was a no show for the Colts game and he now finds himself in a dog fight for what might be the final roster spot.
BELOW THE CUT-LINE
Terrence Austin (UP/4): Hey! A Terrence Austin sighting. The third year receiver finally showed up and had two catches for 31 yards. He'll need a big game in the finale to make the roster. Perhaps we'll even see him at Special Teams?
Anthony Armstrong (UP/4): Could the AAA era be over in Washington? The veteran receiver finally made some noise in the preseason with a fifteen yard catch. What will Armstrong have to do beat out Banks, Robinson, and Austin for the final roster spot?
Brandon Banks (DOWN/3): Banks is holding on by a thread this preseason. He hasn't made any noise as a wide receiver and hasn't caught a ball since the Bills game. He was given the chance to kick return on Saturday, but had a pair of below average returns. Whether you call him Speedy or Stabby, he'll have to impress Mike Shanahan to make the roster for a third year in a row.
