Rumors are swirling about the Redskins possibly trading for Buccaneers defensive back Aqib Talib. These rumors were expected given Talib's checkered past and the fact the Redskins signed his former coach, Raheem Morris, as their defensive backs coach. When healthy Talib is one of the best corners in the game and even won the NFL Alumni Defensive Back of the Year award in 2010. But does the risk outweigh the reward with Talib?
Here is Talib's current rap sheet:
- 2008: Fought teammate Cory Boyd at the Rookie Symposium
- 2009: Charged with battery and resisting arrest in connection to the assault of a Tampa taxi driver
- 2011: Felony warrant was issued for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Talib was said to have fired a gun at his sister's boyfriend.
Talib's case in regards to the March incident is still pending. The other x-factor, in terms of trade, for the former first round pick is the fact that he is in the final year of his contract. I wouldn't expect the Redskins to offer much for a guy pending jail time, pending a suspension, and in the last year of his contract. I'm talking a sixth or seventh round pick.
