In a phone interview from his home in Tampa, Johnson said the 49ers have been in contact with his agent, Adam Heller, and that a visit to the 49ers facility could occur this week, as well as one to the Washington Redskins.
Johnson has only started one game in the last two years and five total in his career. He's an upgrade from Beck...that's good enough for me for him to compete. I can't see the Redskins beating out the 49ers though:
Johnson played for Jim Harbaugh at the University of San Diego and has spent much of the last year linked to Harbaugh. Prior to Alex Smith finding some measure of success in 2011, some folks figured Johnson would be a no-doubt 49er in 2012.
