Some you may remember from last year that Kevin and I participated in #MockThree, which was a "war room" style mock draft. The series has once again started up this year and I just completed #MockOne. Basically these mocks involve 32 bloggers from around the country, with each one representing their favorite football team. Trades are allowed and its interesting to get a take on the different opinions and evaluations from across the country. Here are the Redskins results for #MockOne:
.02: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor: The Colts took Luck so RG3 was the no brainer pick here.
.06: Markelle Martin, S, Oklahoma State: The Skins need to beef up the secondary with the loss of OJ Atogwe and the likely loss of Laron Landry. Brandon Meriweather and Cedric Griffin provide nice depth, but Martin is a guy that can likely start this year and be a legitimate safety of the future.
.07: Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina: Admittedly Norman is one of my favorite prospects in this draft (its the Big South bias in me), but nonetheless he'd be a great pick up for the Skins. Kevin Barnes has been terrible for the Redskins at CB, the addition of Norman give the Skins a big, physical corner who can be groomed to replace DeAngelo Hall
.14: Jeff Allen, OT, Illinois: This guy is Ken Meringolo's 2012 Draft "Man-Crush". Jammal Brown has not been the answer at right tackle for the Redskins. Allen adds some depth to offensive line and gives the Skins a right tackle of the future to develop, beyond UDFA Willie Smith.
.06: Michael Egnew, TE, Missouri: Chris Cooley can't stay healthy and Fred Davis is one puff away from a one year ban, so the Redskins can afford to take a chance on Egnew. A big, physical, athletic target would be great for RG3.
.03: Tank Carder, ILB, TCU: There is a lot of uncertainty to the Skins ILB position and they need to add some depth with Fletcher and Keyaron Fox being FAs. Carder is a hard working, high intensity guy that could definitely add some depth and could be an eventual starter.
.06: Kheeston Randle, DE, Texas: To be honest it was St. Patrick's day (I thought the draft would be delayed) and this one was picked via Autopick. I would have picked Akiem Hicks the nose tackle prospect out of Regina. Nevertheless Randle would still be a solid addition to the DE rotation.
