Redskins email report: Williams on Pro Bowl; Foerster on young OL | WashingtonExaminer.com
"My body of work this season, I went up against tough opponents," Williams said in my email report. "I’m not perfect. I’ve played some of the top talent in the NFL at not 100 percent and still fared pretty well. I think I deserve it, but if not my biggest goal is the playoffs."
Mike Shanahan and Andy Reid: Similar Ships Headed in Opposite Directions " CBS DC
Shanahan, who was 14-27 overall in Washington and 3-6 just five weeks ago, is now dusting off the genius status that many attributed to him when he was hired to revive the Redskins in 2010. Meanwhile, Reid, whose 3-1 start this year had Philadelphia possibly fulfilling the "Dream Team" label it botched so badly in 2011, is all but out the door after 14 seasons with nine losses in his past 10 games.
The Redskins Blog | Shanahan: Taunting The Football Is OK
Shanahan was asked today by the media if Garçon was guilty of taunting. "He didn’t taunt the ball," Shanahan said. "[If] the ball doesn’t taunt back, you’re all right." It was immediately unclear if Wilson — which makes the NFL’s official football — had a response to Garçon’s "taunting" of their product. Anyway, Shanahan said he didn’t necessarily agree with the taunting penalty, saying the spin is more an act of enthusiasm. "A guy like Pierre Garçon, I love what he does. He is so into the game," Shanahan said. "When he spun that ball, he was just looking at that ball … So those type of things I like. But there is a fine line between enthusiasm and taunting, so you have to play within the rules. So, you have to be yourself, whoever you are."
DeAngelo Hall criticizes NFL for its investigation, handling of appeal of fine for ref incident
"Any time you’ve got one person that’s the judge, jury and executioner — he makes the fine, then he hears the appeal, then he decides the amount — it’s just tough. It’s just tough," Hall said. In that regard, he added, "the CBA [collective bargaining agreement between the league and players’ union] we agreed on probably wasn’t in the best interests of the players, from my viewpoint."
Coaches Admire Garcon's Fiery Passion
"He’s angry out there and I love it," offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said. "I think it rubs off on everybody. When you see a guy like that who’s our top receiver and the way he competes in the run game and the way he fights for every yard, does not mind the contact, I think it bleeds to every receiver in the group. "I think he’s as good as any receiver in this league. He’s the No. 1 receiver who can get open and wants to score and tries to score every time he touches the ball."
Need to Know: Redskins' first worst to first? - Rich Tandler's Real Redskins
The NFL noted yesterday that the Redskins have a chance to go from last place in its division in one year to the division championship the next. The league said that if the Redskins pull it off, it would be the 10th consecutive year that a team has been able to accomplish that feat. Worst to first may not be unusual in the NFL but it is in Redskins history. The Redskins have won the NFC East six times—in 1972, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1991, and 1999. They did not finish last in the division in any of the years prior to winning it.
Preview & Keys to the Game for Redskins vs. the Eagles | Fanspeak Washington Redskins Blog
Based on the first meeting between the Redskins and Eagles, as well as the Eagles losses at home versus the Bengals and Panthers, I would normally not be that concerned with this game. The only thing that concerns me is that this will be Andy Reid's final home game as coach of the Eagles.

For Washington Redskins, nothing succeeds like success - The Washington Post
Winning really is the great deodorant, isn’t it? It covers up the stench of what we thought we knew about a team and its players. It gives non-believers faith and almost instantly alters the psychological direction of a franchise.

Alfred Morris talking trash in Cleveland
"Someone got under his skin and he was talking a little bit of trash this week. Tough guy," Cooley laughed. "And then, this is another one of my favorite parts about the game, he’s in the middle of talking trash and he looks at Bobby Turner, our running backs coach, who I like to refer to as ‘Alfred’s dad.’ He’s always watching him like a dad, and [Morris] says, ‘I was talking trash and I looked at Bobby T and I thought, Oh yeah. He’s going to be mad that I’m saying anything.’ So then he turned around and walked back to the huddle."
