As expected after the achilles injury to Fred Davis, Chris Cooley has re-signed with the Redskins. Cooley is the Skins all-time receiver at tight end after putting up over 4,700 yards in his eight years in Washington. The two-time Pro Bowler was cut late this preseason as the Redskins decided to go with Fred Davis, Logan Paulsen, and a transitioning Niles Paul at tight end.
Cooley has now passed his physical and will practice with the team this week. It's important to remember that Cooley was also seeing reps at the fullback position this preseason, so the veteran could add yet another wrinkle to an interesting Kyle Shanahan offense.
And yes, this does mean the Redskins finally have their back up kicker back. For everyone that bought a Chris Cooley Nike jersey on clearance...congratulations.
