Ryan Kerrigan Wins NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month

PFT had the stats ready to go:

The 16th overall pick in the draft, Kerrigan has 13 tackles, five quarterback pressures, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two passes defensed, and an interception that he returned for a touchdown.

You can send along well wishes to him on Twitter @RyanKerrigan91. I'm sure if such award did have an acceptance speech, Brian Orakpo would get the first round of Thank Yous for helping adjust to OLB and taking on most of the double teams.

Kerrigan could easily be one of those players teams wished they had taken earlier. Via his combine report:

He's already an excellent pass rusher with a nose for creating turnovers. Kerrigan leaves Purdue with 33 sacks, 57 tackles for loss and a Big Ten-record 14 career forced fumbles.

Kerrigan ran a 4.67 40 at the combine, faster than any of the first-round end prospects who ran in Indy other than Quinn (4.62).

Seems like an easy pick in retrospect, right?
