Redskins Sign Guard/Center Chris Chester from Ravens

The Redskins lured another Raven from Baltimore and added offensive lineman, Chris Chester. He was originally drafted as a Center and moved to Guard. Redskins OL Coach Chris Foerster coached Chester briefly in Baltimore.

Age: 28, Height:6'3" , Weight: 315, 5-year contract $20 million

Here's a pro/con list of Chester's skills:

Pros: Although Chester is often considered a backup, he has started at least 11 games the past three seasons. In 2008, he started 11 games at right guard after Marshal Yanda sustained a season-ending knee injury. In 2009, Chester started the first nine games while Yanda recovered and started four more games at tight end.

Cons: Chester is athletic and has quick feet but he struggles against explosive linemen. It is believed that the team still envisions Chester in more of a backup role because he isn't strong enough at the point of attack. He was drafted to be a center

It was reported the Redskins made a run for Jermon Bushrod but came up empty. Based on our QB situation, I can't see many OLineman wanting to come here except for the money. The Redskins are bringing in the few OLinemen that are willing to come. We need bodies and he's an ample one. He very well could be our starting Center now.
