Of the 254 picks in the 2011 NFL draft, 10 were from the DMV area. I didn't realize that Redskins 7th round pick, Chris Neild, was the very pick before Mr. Irrelevant. Talk about cutting it close.
Redskins RB Evan Royster, drafted in the 6th round round from Penn State, played at Westfield, in Chantilly, VA. I mean, one could pogo stick to Redskins Park from there. Ryan WIlliams and Brandon Hogan aren't far either in Manassas.
Marvin Austin actually played High School ball at Coolidge and Ballou. Three Hokies, one Terp, and one Cavalier were drafted (all high save Tyrod Taylor).
