As we head into the weekend, I want to share that I'll be one of the featured authors on Saturday at the Gaithersburg Book Festival in Maryland. Your Redskins historian will make a presentation on Redskins history, of course, at the Rachel Carson Pavilion starting at 11:40, with a focus on both of my books, the Washington Redskins Football Vault and The Redskins Encyclopedia. Joining me for a Q&A during the presentation and at my book signing afterward will be Redskinsgreat Ron McDole, a charter member of the team’s famous "Over The Hill Gang" in the 1970s. "The Dancing Bear," a defensive end, was key to Redskin squads that went to the playoffs five times in the 1970s, including an appearance in Super Bowl VII. I've interviewed him extensively for both of my books, and he's been a guest on my TV show, "Burgundy & Gold Magazine." A borderline Hall of Fame candidate, McDole has many entertaining stories to share about the fun-loving, George Allen-coached Redskins of the 1970s.
The Gaithersburg Book Festival is one of the premier literary events in the country, and dozens of authors will be there. For more information, go to my Web site at www.redskinshistorian.com, or to the festival’s Web site at www.gaithersburgbookfestival.org Hope to see you there!
Mike Richman, your Redskins historian, is a contributing writer to Hogs Haven and the author of the Washington Redskins Football Vault and The Redskins Encyclopedia. His Web site is www.redskinshistorian.com.
