Brooks Reed, a defensive end at the University of Arizona, is scheduled to meet with the Redskins this week.  Reed will play OLB in the 3-4 and the Skins will be looking to pair him with Brian Orakpo as a rush linebacker. Reed is a converted H-back and was an All-Pac-10 first team performer this past year.

With all the discussion about draft prospects for the Skins, it seems as if Reed has slipped through the cracks. I am assuming that the fit for Reed and the Skins would be the early second round pick that we have, although some pundits have him shooting up draft boards right now.  He had a pretty impressive offseason at the Senior Bowl, Combine, and his Pro Day which has drawn the eyes of several scouts.

Reed started 34 games in college and this past year was by far his best, he registered 47 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks.  He’s 6’2 260 lbs and is probably best suited to enter the league in the 3-4, many think he would be overpowered at the defensive end position.  His biggest strength is his tackling ability, while his biggest con is his potential to get overpowered at the line of scrimmage.

If anyone else has anything else on Reed or watched him play a lot in the Pac-10 (errr… 12) then it would be awesome to hear.
