Just when you thought we were out of wide receivers to feature in this space...both good and bad, the hits just keep on coming.
Michael Westbrook was drafted 4th overall in the 1995 draft. He had prototypical size and strength to be the kind of overpowering receiver any team could benefit from throwing to on Sundays. Instead, we got a guy that could not live up to his top draft billing. He did have one good season, hauling in 65 balls for over 1,000 yards and 9 touchdowns in 1999, but that was it.
Here is what Westbrook's legacy is in D.C.:
*He removed his helmet in a game against the Giants that cost us 15 yards and took us out of field position to kick a game-winning field goal. This was the game that Gus Frerotte head-butted his way off the field and ultimately resulted in a 7-7 tie that yours truly sat through on a cold, rainy Sunday night.
*He sucker-punched a hobbled Stephen Davis and then jumped on top of him to get more blows in. Yes, Stephen Davis was on crutches at the time.
