New, comments
Andrew Soucy
Andrew Soucy

Measurables: 6' 2" 1/2 311

Projected Draft Status:
High - 7th Round
Low - Undrafted FA

Combine: Not invited

Pro Day Results:
40 - 5.22
10 yard split - 1.75
Bench - 32
Vert - 30
Broad - 8' 9"

Pros:

  • Can play NT or DT(DE in a 3-4)
  • Has long arms and gets off the ground well to bat down balls at LOS
  • Excellent hand punch to jar offensive linemen
  • Plays with good leverage
  • Non-stop motor

Cons:

  • Played against weak competition in college
  • Not the most athletically gifted defensive linemen you will find
  • Needs to develop more pass-rushing moves(relies too much on bull rush)

Analysis:

Soucy was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2010. Despite being the focus of every team's blocking schemes, he still managed 28 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and a blocked kick. For his career at Eastern Kentucky, Soucy recorded 121 tackles, 31 of them for a loss and 9.5 sacks.

The Redskins could use some depth along their defensive front. Soucy can play the 1, 3 or 5 technique. It's highly unlikely that Soucy will be drafted, but he may be worth a look as an undrafted FA.
