Bills just released the 32-year old Marcus Stroud:
The Stroud trade three years ago was a bad idea and the subsequent $20.5 million extension was even more ill-conceived. Stroud was due $4.5 million in 2011 on the heels of two straight years of poor run defense. The 32-year-old is not an ideal fit in the Bills' 3-4 scheme, and the team wanted to open up playing time for promising second-year end Alex Carrington. [msnbc]
The Redskins certainly love veteran lineman. Vonnie Holliday was not a fit for the 3-4 defense given his size (6'5" 288lbs, 35 years old), but he played admirably and saw a decent amount of time at the Nose position.
Stroud, a 3x Pro-Bowler from 2003-2005, has ample size at 6'6", 310 lbs. He's been healthy pretty much his entire career. Buffalo fans seem to agree he was not worth the money and REALLY struggled in the 3-4. "What Buffalo Bill doesn't struggle?" would be my response. Shaun Rogers has been continuing his team tour visiting the Saints and Texans after his interview with the Redskins.
