Hightower Out for Year; Moss 5-7 Weeks; London Fletcher Hamstring

Visual representation of Redskins' fans reactions today on radio and twitter = armageddon. Let's relax and watch our youth step in.

Mike Shanahan just gave the injury updates and it was as bad as one could expect:

  • Hightower did in fact tear his ACL. He's out for the year.
  • Santana Moss had hand surgery today with 3 pins put in his index finger. He's out 5-7 weeks.
  • London Fletcher pulled his hamstring. Shanny wouldn't give an estimate there but based on his teammates' hammy injuries earlier this year that ranges around 2 weeks.
  • Grossman hospitalized with pneumonia.
Obviously, losing another three starters is back breaking, but teams like the Chiefs (and Packers last year) were able to fight through major injuries to win games (Chiefs lost Eric Berry, Jamaal Charles, and 4 others to IR). Granted, those two teams have Pro-Bowl QBs, but that's OK. Honestly, I enjoy watching the young guys play and it happens often to see a young guy shine (like DeMarco Murray yesterday for Dallas). The Redskins have potential from the last two drafts for someone to not only step up, but claim a job.

Fletcher is arguably the most important guy we have on the field, so let's hope he can get out there vs Buffalo and their stout rushing offense (ranked 4th in the NFL).
