Quinton Carter Scout Draft Profile - Your Next Redskins Free Safety?

The Redskins have a ton of holes. We all know this. As bad as both lines are, the Free Safety position has been a huge cold sore spot for me. Kareem Moore only played 12 games this year, and it seemed like every week he did play, he had a huge missed tackle that resulted in 7 points against.

Enter Quinton Carter. The projected 2nd round Free Safety weighed in at the Senior Bowl today at 212 lbs. He's listed on the scout websites as 6'1", which means he's 1 pound and 1 inch smaller than Sean Taylor. Although his early 40 scores range from 4.57-4.67, the former Oklahoma Sooner is one of the top rated safeties in the country. To give you an idea, Sean Taylor ran a 4.51 and Trent Williams a 4.82.

I asked Lendy Holmes, his former teammate, about Carter being a good fit for the Redskins over Twitter and he responded:

"yea he could be a good fit, all he got to do is learn the next level and he will be able to do big things."

Did that sell it for you?! Two things that interest me most is all of his off-field work. Carter was a Thorpe Award candidate and one of the OU's most active community servants. He actually started his own charitable foundation as a Sophomore in college and spent the majority of his free time dedicated to service work. Quality guy. (more here)

As I learned last year, Shanahan did a TON of homework on Trent before drafting him in regards to his personality. With so many Sooners on the Redskins squad (Malcolm Kelly, Jammal Brown, Trent Williams), surely the Redskins would know what type of player they are getting for their locker room. The guy can straight up ball. Stats and video clips after the jump...

Obviously, I know a lot of people would love to see a DL, LB, or OL drafted with the 2nd round pick, but a solid FS can do wonders as the two current Super Bowl teams can attest.
