Here's a list of all the notable releases the Redskins have had since Shanahan has taken over. What's the famous line? Ah yes, "Another man's trash is another man's treasure." That doesn't seem to be the case when it's Cerrato's trash. I'm definitely coming across harsher than I intend, but that line sounded too good to pass up. It says something when the majority of the players that you had on your 2009 roster, who the new coaching staff released, are not picked up by any of the other 31 NFL teams.
Less than half of the Redskins on last year's roster have found new homes. It should be noted Todd Collins was wooed by the Ravens, but no deal has been signed there. Griff, Smoot, and Randy Thomas are likely retirement candidates. Thomas, a work-horse for the Skins for so many years, probably should have hung em a couple years ago. How the coaching staff didn't see that when the fans did still baffles to me this day. Bugel is a very loyal guy, but this is a business, and the Redskins were the equivalent of the Lehman Brothers last year.
If there's anything that comes out of this list of retired players, it should be Fred Smoot getting a sideline job with Comcast SportsNet. Can you imagine pre-game and post-game shows with BMitch and Smoot? Must see TV.
