Devin Thomas Has a Feeling Redskins Drafting a QB with #4 Pick

Before Devin Thomas left Friday, I asked him his thoughts on the #4 overall pick, and he replied,

"You know...I just have a feeling we're taking a QB. I'd love to see an offensive lineman though."

When I asked for the former Michigan State Spartan why, he replied:

"I don't know, I just do.  It's a weak QB class next year, too."

That point struck home. How often will the Redskins pick this high again? If Shanahan was coaching last year, the Skins easily would have won 2-3 more of those games (at least). I really can't see the Redskins losing more than six ten games a year from here on out (even with that hard schedule next year). After all, Joe Gibbs was able to muster 6 wins after the Spurrier debacle. So with that said, is it smart to lock up a QB now?

The consensus the past few months on Hogs Haven has been that if the Redskins took Bradford, we'd be OK with it, but everyone would much rather see Okung. The Rams have penciled in Bradford as the #1 pick, so that leaves the Redskins the tough decision on Clausen or Okung. If Okung is off the board and they can't trade down, then what? Well,  let's take a look at the 2011 leading QB draft class:

1. Jake Locker | Washington

  Player Information:

 Height: 6'3"

 Weight: 225

 40: 4.64

  Notes:

Will likely be the #1 overall pick next year. Here's a 45-page list of all his strengths. [WalterFootball]

(Note: He's already under contract with the Los Angeles Angels).

 2. Case Keenum | Houston

  Player Information:

 Height: 6'2"

 Weight: 210

 40: 4.75

  Notes:

 3. Christian Ponder | Florida State

  Player Information:

 Height: 6'2"

 Weight: 217

 40: 4.69

  Notes:

This is a bit of a dilemma. It's hard to imagine Locker not being the #1 overall pick next year given his size and skills. Perhaps the Redskins would pull a Mike Ditka and trade away the entire 2011 and 2012 picks to trade up. Kidding. Hopefully, Campbell works out and this all becomes a non-issue.
