Update via Adam Schefter, who has ties to Shanahan:
"There's speculation that Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth will be released today. He will not. Not today, not this season."
Via Chris Russell of ESPN 980:
A #Redskins source tells @espnradio980 team is giving 'serious consideration' to releasing Haynesworth by Saturday. Source says '75% likely'
This all comes on the news he was out drinking at a bar called The Tap Room on Thursday night. Haynesworth, as Redskins coaches said, had a bad practice this week and was inactive against the Giants with "an illness." The writing is on the wall. This guy is a bum.
One of my favorite Haynesworth quotes? When we first signed him:
"You're not going to remember Albert Haynesworth as a bust. With the contract, it's going to be all on me," Haynesworth said. "My goal is to be the best player on the field and to eventually get to that Hall of Fame status and be mentioned with Reggie White and Bruce Smith and all the greats."
Haynesworth recorded 7 sacks and 53 tackles in the 20 games he's played in Washington. Not really worth the near $40 million he collected from the Redskins already.
