Update 4: Via WaPost:
Donovan McNabb statement, through publicist: "I respect Mike's decision as a head coach, but I strongly disagree with it."
Update 3: Theismann weighs in:
"I don't think the handwriting is on the wall, I think it's in paint and it's in very big letters," Theismann said. "Donovan McNabb will not be a Washington Redskin going forward. ... I think [Shanahan's] made that very, very obvious....[McNabb] has handled them with class, with integrity and you have to have the utmost respect for Donovan McNabb, the man, the way he has handled these situations. But it is not Donovan the man that is being replaced."
Update 2: Mike Shanahan: "Kyle had no idea I was doing this. Nobody did." (So it's clear Kyle is nothing more than a mime at this point, right?)
Update: Grossman is our QB for the rest of the season. Beck is #2 QB for evaluation purposes. McNabb will be #2 for JAX & NYG games.
"Just learned that Rex Grossman is starting over McNabb Sun in Dallas; I'm told Redskins Lockeroom is divided and guys are extremely upset."
Wow. So, McNabb is 100% healthy and we're going with Rex. The only positive spin I could put on this news is that the Redskins know what they have in McNabb, and they want to see what they have in Grossman. Jarmon is seeing a lot of time this week so we're obviously in tryout mode. What I don't get, is just yesterday Shanahan said it is all about winning. Grossman has 8 years of game film that exemplifies his suckiness. I really am speechless, but as I see it, the Redskins are once again in complete disarray.
Grossman's highest QB rating is THIS season...yes, that game he got sack-fumbled for 6.
