Welcome Kevin Jones

No, not formerly injured though now looking allegedly sharp in the Lions OTA running back Kevin Jones, instead St. Augustine All-American OLB ILB linebacker Kevin Jones. Jones hails from the aforementioned St. Augustine Falcons and recently signed a contract with the 'Skins.

The Falcons struggled last year, winning just four times on a ten game season, dropping Ls to assumably fiercesome opponents such as Carson Newman, Winston-Salem State, and Mars Hill (these DII schools are freaking everywhere). Elizabeth City State took them behind the woodshed for a 49-0 beatdown.

Apparently Kevin Jones was the most prolific tackler in the nation last year with 120 -- 12 a game ain't too bad. He lists on the small side at 230, though there's room to grow (in our hearts as well, you budding Cinderellas story, you). His Redskins profile says he was on the 2nd best defense in the nation (DII) and was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) defensive player of the year. If you hear that he broke a bunch of St. Augustine defensive records, remember they reinstated their football program just five years ago.

The CIAA is a DII conference composed of historically black universities; St. Augustine is a member of the Western Division. Fun fact: Conference rival Elizabeth State University HC Waverly Tillar was honored for totally kicking the snot out of the Falcons, 49-0 by the 100% Wrong Club "which recognizes the most outstanding football athlete from a historically black college or university." The name of the club presumably refers to the social injustices in sports it has battled since the 1920s and is not meant as an insult to Coach Tillar. Still, an interesting name for a club.
