Mark Brunell wins Fatherhood Award

Mark Brunell was one of five awardees from the National Fatherhood Initiative in this year's Fatherhood Awards. Press release and hat tip per Redskins Insider:

The National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) has announced NBA star Allan Houston, Washington Redskins Quarterback Mark Brunell , Rabbi Shmuley Botreach , Dr. Walter Lomax , and Gunnery Sergeant Kevin Andrade as winners of the 2007 Fatherhood Awards, to be presented at the 10th Annual Fatherhood Awards Gala at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, April 26, 2007 . ABC7/WJLA-TV news anchor Leon Harris will emcee.

Roland C. Warren, President of NFI , said, "This year's winners have demonstrated a devotion to fatherhood that is transforming the way our nation views the roles of fathers in children's lives."

If you're interested and in the area, details on attending the banquet can be found here. $250 a ticket so, uhhh, I'm not invited.

But a Hogs Haven congratulations to Mark Brunell. It's always good to see Redskins recognized for their accomplishments, even the off field variety. If Fathering or Fatherhood is your thing -- and admittedly I have no children (I am a child) -- make sure you check out the National Fatherhood Initiative; donations can be made here.
