You can put the quarterback speculation to rest...
Last night, Dan Snyder secretly met with and signed former Washington starting quarterback Jeff George to a two-year contract estimated to be worth $8.75 million, plus incentives. According to early reports, this includes $2.5 million in signing bonuses and a total of $3.75 million in guaranteed money. This contract is contingent on George passing a team physical.
We at HogsHaven couldn't be any happier about this move. George is a self-avowed expert of the West Coast offense, making him is a great fit for the Redskins' finesse running and dump pass style of play, and the price couldn't be any better (what a steal!). Kudos to Snyder for finally addressing this unspoken gap in our roster over the past couple of seasons at third-string quarterback. In our view, he couldn't have found a better veteran to fill this role. Adding to his 12-years of NFL experience is his fresh, injury-free body, having not thrown a pass since the 2000-2001 season.
Anwaan Randle-El will continue in his role as the Redskins' 4th string emergency quarterback.
