Jon Jansen signs an extension

Update [2007-2-6 18:17:38 by Skin Patrol]: And it is official. Jansen is signed through 2011. No additional details on his contract, yet.

Hat Tip: Extreme Skins.

Per Comcast SportsNet:

Comcast SportsNet's Chick Hernandez has learned that Redskins right tackle Jon Jansen has signed a new deal that will keep him in Washington through 2011.

The team is expected to announce the new contract on Tuesday. The deal is for five years, worth in the neighborhood of $22 million.

Jansen was previously on contract through 2008, though now we've secured him until 2011. 22M over 5 years is 4.4M a year, which is manageable given that he cost the team 5M last year and 5.6M this year. Without knowing the specific annual details or bonuses or etc., nothing yet about this deal troubles me. It sounds (initially) like a fair amount of money for the most "Core" Redskin on the team.

Now I just hope the team gets Derrick Dockery secured for a reasonable contract.
