The official site has the postmortem:
Fauria played just one season in Washington. Signed by the Redskins as a free agent in March 2006, he struggled through a foot injury most of last season and ended the year on injured reserve.
Fauria, a 12-year NFL veteran, played in nine games last year and had two receptions for 17 yards.
The resigning of Mike Pucillo was also confirmed:
The Redskins have re-signed offensive lineman Mike Pucillo, the team announced on Wednesday...
Details of the contract were not released, though I think we really got a bargain on him. He's a versatile, reliable backup playing at or near the league minimum. Very comfortable having him behind Casey Rabach and/or one of our Guards (whoever they end up being).
Pucillo can play several positions along the offensive line. He was listed on the depth chart as the backup center, but he can also play guard. Last season, he occasionally lined up at tight end in short yardage and goal-line situations.
