Your new Linebackers Coach: Kirk Olivadotti

Update [2007-1-18 10:19:40 by Skin Patrol]:It is worth noting that Jason La Canfora at Redskins Insider predicted this and has some additional encouraging words regarding Kirk Olivadotti. Good news.

Per the official site, Kirk Olivadotti was promoted from "defensive quality control" to Linebackers Coach. Check out his official bio. Though admittedly I don't know much about Olivadotti, the good news is that he's survived the Coaching carrousel in Washington having served under Marvin Lewis and even Ray Rhodes (back when Norv Turner/Terry Robiskie were coaches). You don't survive that long under new staffs by being a bad coach.

All that said, it is a strange promotion. Though he played College Football, it wasn't on defense but as a wide receiver at Purdue. He was a defensive coordinator, briefly, at St. Joe's.

Maybe it's in the genes! Tom Olivadotti, Kirk's father, is the Linebackers Coach for the Houston Texans. With the successful completion of the Human Genome Project in April of 2003, it's just a matter of time before we discover the ever crucial "Linebackers Coaching" gene. Support science, reader(s).
