Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

you Betts I'm angry!

another post from Sporting News.com...it's kinda got under my skin...hope it's not true:

Ladell Betts - RB
When Joe Gibbs arrived, he was told Betts was no better than a backup. Then, in 2006, Betts gained 1,154 yards and averaged 4.7 yards per carry after Clinton Portis was lost to a variety of injuries. Now, Jim Zorn is being told the same thing about Betts. (Paul Woody for SN)

Star-divide

I have long been a Betts supporter, and it is apparent he could start for anywhere from one-third to one-half of the teams in the NFL.  If he were a step faster and a bit more agile, he would be a perfect West Coast running back.  He is just good all-around and excels in pass catching as far as runners go.  Whaddy'all think?

Hard to
tell because so many RB's have great single seasons. One could argue that his great season was atributed to Gibbs playcalling suited his running style(power, 2 TE's)wheras CP is better in a Zone blocking, spread type.

Fortunately for CP...
it is believed he will get more outside running under Zorn, let's hopw so...1500 yards rushing is my expectation-Zorn claims that his west coast is more balanced...excactly my style of offense.  Though perhaps Betts will see more playing time because of his hands...eh, who knows...we'll see.

It's too bad for Ladell,
but Clinton Portis may be pound for pound the best RB in the NFC. He is a tremendous blocker, tough, fast, and makes big plays. He isn't afraid to run routes and break tackles. He's a great player and belongs as our #1 running back. If Ladell hates it here, he should get traded, because he's talented enough to be a starter or a split guy. But Clinton is the man in Washington -- and he's still young -- younger than Ladell.

Ladell is a great backup and good teams need deep backfields. I'd love to have him around for as long as he is in the NFL, despite Clinton being our undisputed #1.

Let's also not
forget that CP is the best RB in the NFL without the ball. I've never seen anyone take as much pride in picking up a LB on a blitz. If you watch him, he's always excited after he stuffs the LB!

Let us also give each other fist pounds (and other manly expressions of glee) that we have two top teir RB's.
