Derrick Frost still the punter

Oldish news but neglected here. Per the Official Site:

Punter Derrick Frost has agreed to terms on a new contract with the Redskins, the team has announced.

Frost completed his third season as the Redskins' punter. He was also the holder on field goal attempts, adding to his value on special teams.

Redskins Insider on the amount:
Because of roster bonuses in his new contract, Redskins punter Derrick Frost could earn as much as $850,000 next season, a league source said.
Frost is in his 5th season, I believe the minimum league salary for that much tenure is somewhere in the 600K range, though am unable to confirm that. That should give you a general idea of the amount he stands to make on bonus, though; hundreds of thousands, not millions of dollars.

I don't mind Derrick Frost, but the truth is he's a fairly unremarkable punter. He was 32nd in the league in average yards, 17th in punts w/ in the 20 (against his 75 punts this is neither unusually low nor high), and 11th in fair catches (ditto). He didn't have any returned for touchdowns, his long was meh at 64, etc.. In other words, per traditional stats he's simply a reliable but unspectacular professional football punter.

Per Football Outsider's DVOA, we scored a 4.3. I believe that leaves us at 6th in the league at punt coverage. However, there is no way for me to distinguish from with in the data the effect our return coverage had vs. that of our actual punter. In any event, welcome back to Derrick Frost.

We should draft someone to
give him so pressure in camp and that person should be Durant brooks.

Frost is at best consistent. This guy could be a field position "king of the mountain"

I'm reluctant to draft a
punter. I had to look up at NFL.com to remind me who the punters were for the Giants and Patriots. In my opinion, it's one of those positions which, if used properly, is not used at all.

Usually I'd agree but
At the minimum we have to bring in someone to challange him.

I concur
and we've had a general practice of always challenging his position, at least that's what we did under Gibbs. Punters should never feel safe, especially ones in one year contracts.
