Redskins Cheerleader Anabel Dela Cerna rebukes Coach Zorn

Update [2008-2-13 13:16:57 by Skin Patrol]: I've been told that:
Tune in!! This year’s "Sports Illustrated" swimsuit cover model MARISA MILLER will be on the "The Ellen Degeneres Show" on Friday, February 15, 2008. Check your local listings or visit www.ellendegeneres.com for time and channel.
That's my good deed of the day.
I have little time today but thought this was a matter of import. Earlier this week Jim Zorn tried to unilaterally change the team's colors (or else he simply mispoke, I don't like to speculate or rumor monger, rather I just present the objective facts and let reader(s) reach their own conclusions, because I'm a morally serious person who thinks damned Jim Zorn tried to unilaterally change the colors, that son of a bitch). Redskins Cheerleader Anabel Dela Cerna -- also a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition model -- bravely spoke on behalf of all those who can't defend themselves, namely, web loggers like myself silenced by the cruel, uncaring meritocracy that is the internet.

As you can see, there is no maroon, there is no black [NOTE: Maroon and Black THE BLOG, an idea whose time has come!], there is burgundy, there is gold. Your move, Jim.

Speaking of Head Coach Zorn, he apparently owes me and my ilk a huge debt of thanks. But for the existence of completely irrelevant bloggers like myself and actually relevant ones like Mister Irrelevant, we'd be discussing Head Coach Jim Fassel. At least, that's how Jim Fassel tells it per the DC Sports Bog, emphasis mine:

I believe Jim Fassel to be a great guy, and I think he probably got treated poorly over the past month, and I would have been fine with him as head coach, but just today the real culprits behind his non-hiring emerged. Their names? Mister Irrelevant, Unsilent Majority, Hogs Haven, and the Curly R. From Fassel's interview with the John Thompson Show this afternoon:

[Fassel said:] When I got the New York Giants job I remember telling my family that, 'You know, you cannot hold the lead in these jobs in major markets.' Because you've got bloggers[!!!], and they're saying, 'No, this isn't the right guy, and that ain't the right guy,' and you can't hold the lead, because you are going to take the hit. I mean, when you're the lead dog, you're going to take the hit. And I think the longer it went, the longer it went, the longer it went....

Alright alright, it was me, I did it. I managed to cause a fan revolt by reaching out to all 4 people who read this blog in a furious campaign of emails and phone calls and sometimes just shouting because the only people who read this blog are related to me.

I blame this guy, at least he can actually write well.

I dont think it had anything to do with
Exremeskins, do you? I mean there was like, what, a few thousand comments of hatred about Fassell.

I got booted for a week over their because i couldnt hold back on him and Danny.

I think i know what happened though. Of the like 5 bloggers normally here, we each told 20 people who told 20 people and so on and so on. When it was all done we reached approximately 25,000 people. A real grassroots movement.

Extremeskins? Naw, no way.
Their massive numerical superiority notwithstanding, obviously Hogs Haven was the real reason.

In all seriousness, outside of actual media like the Times and WaPo, there's little question that the most influential Redskins entity is ExtremeSkins. I'm not saying they affected change here, but if anyone did it was them. Two reasons: 1) Much, much, much, much larger reader base and thus a larger audience 2) it is owned by the team, is linked to by the official site, and so the likelihood that someone at Redskins park, even if it isn't a Daniel Snyder or Vinny Cerrato, is paying attention is simply too high to ignore.

I would bet my life's savings that virtually everyone associated with the Redskins will go their entire lives without ever having heard of this place. The same is not true of Extreme Skins, which is why they're a part of the team and I'm just some guy on the outside looking in.

In any event, the truth is a giant sperm whale is what did Jim Fassel in. Quoting Melville:

"All that most maddens and torments; all that stirs up the lees of things; all truth with malice in it; all that cracks the sinews and cakes the brain; all the subtle demonisms of life and thought; all evil, to crazy [Jim Fassel], were visibly personified, and made practically assailable in [those fucking bloggers!]. He piled upon the [the internet] the sum of all the general rage and hate felt by his whole race from Adam down; and then, as if his chest had been a mortar, he burst his hot heart's shell upon it."

Should read...
much, much, much larger reader base than any other Redskins fan meeting place.

Change a few words...
and you can make any piece of great fiction say almost anything you want.

Example (more Melville):

The [hiring process]'s done. Why then here does any one step forth? --Because one did survive the wreck.

Magic.
