Todd Collins could be shown the door

Per Jason La Canfora at The Post:

Backup quarterback Mark Brunell, coming off labrum surgery, said he is ahead of schedule in his recovery and can throw longer with more regularity. He was cleared for full practice -- although he is monitored closely -- and said, "I expect to be 100 percent by training camp."

Should Brunell recover, the Redskins could give strong consideration to releasing veteran Todd Collins, who has been a career backup and hopes to get a chance to play before his career ends.

As Jason points out, we've got a slew of young quarterbacks including Sam Hollenbach and Jordan Palmer. Casey Bramlet is also lighting things up in NFL Europa. Speaking to Hollenbach, let me segue to an Extreme Skins thread complements of user JimmiJo, who was covering the OTAs for ES:
Most of these passes were thrown by Jordan Palmer, who seems to have excelled ahead of Hollenbach (who got no reps) on the depth chart.
Interesting development. Post combined with ES suggests that Bramlet and Palmer will ultimately battle for the final spot, though there's still some time for all parties involved to impress the staff.

I am sure the departure of Todd Collins would positively destroy the morale of Hogs Haven contributor/regular/poster TexSkins, as he has expressed a touching fondness for Collins time and time again. Am I right, Tex?

Personally I appreciate what Collins brings to the table, but if Brunell is recovering well than we don't need both of them. Serviceable veteran with clipboard can be handled better by Brunell anyways, and I'd rather we reserve the 3rd QB spot for developing a younger guy who could replace Mark Brunell within the next few years.

Article also has some injury notes on Marcus Washington, Santana Moss, and Brandon Lloyd. None sound serious, but should interest reader(s) nonetheless. Springs has been excused from practice because his wife is pregnant. Preemptive congratulations to Shawn from Hogs Haven.

Collins leaving...
would be the best offseason move any team made.  AT in NE has got nothing on TC out of DC.

For the love of god...
... please cut Brunell! Why in the world this guy still has a job is beyond me. He flat out sucks! Plus Cambpell has to worry about this gimpy old coot coming in to takeover for him the first time he has a minor injury (ask Ramsey about that) or throws a bad pass. He's like jason in those friday the 13th movies. He just keeps coming back again and again. I'm really over it. I cease to be a skins fan this year if brunell is on the field at any point during the regular season.

Carry Cambell, Collins and a young guy or 2 young guys behind Campbell. This team is not on the verge of making the playoffs so why carry Brunell when he offers nothing for the future of the team? Its not like he's an expert on the offense and can teach a younger guy something. He doesn't know the offense, gets hurt bending over to pick up his helmet and can't complete a pass with any zing on it more than 5 yards past the line of scrimmage.

LET HIM GO FOR CHRISTS SAKE!!!
