LaVar Hurt

The Associated Press is reporting that former Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington was hurt today in a motorcycle crash, with "serious but not life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle crashed on a highway ramp Monday."

Early reports are that alcohol was not a factor, and that LaVar was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Despite Arrington not leaving the team on the best of terms, his three pro-bowl seasons as a Redskin will always guarantee him a special place in my heart (particularly now that he's no longer a Giant). Oh yeah, and him ending Troy Aikman's career.

On behalf of Hogs Haven, I'd like to share our wishes for his swift recovery.

Let Him Retire as a Redskin

I hope I'm wrong about this, particularly since I didn't believe the rumors about his impeding retirement when they surfaced last season, but I don't see how he comes back from this additional round of injuries. If this is indeed his future, I believe that Snyder should do the classy thing and offer to let LaVar sign a one-day contract so he can retire as a Redskin.

Perhaps I'm being too sentimental. Maybe it was the Princess Diana special on tonight.
