Briggs Still An Option

Didn't see it on front page yet, so I thought I would toss it up here.

This is the news about Briggs and a possible Skins deal.

This one I would like your opinion, about it being a bad move.

Not sure how three lines, constitutes one line.  Maybe links don't get counted in that number.

Needless to say
I think this is a horrible idea. Will post on this soon.

Hmmm
It's a good move if we are able to give up that 6th pick in exchange for their 31st and we get Briggs.  We should throw in Lamar Marshall for a 3rd rounder and let Rocky start at linebacker since we made an absolutely ridiculous trade for him anyway. At least we can see if he was really worth a 1st rounder's worth of picks in the first place.

And here's the quote I saw from NFL.com

"The Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears are considering a trade that would send the sixth overall pick to Chicago for Bears linebacker Lance Briggs and the 31st overall selection. "

Wait
I take that back.  Marshall should move to strong side, and start rocky on the weak side...kick the aging Holdman to the curb, and pick up and undrafted rookie to back them up or bring in McCune if he's made progress.

I've been at work 3 hours now with a large cup of coffee at my side, and I'm STILL half awake.

What about Marcus Washington?
Warrick Holdman is already gone, as he's a UFA.

Ya...
That's what I thought.  I'm not completely up to date.  Matter of fact, my last post made no since.  How embarrassing...But I still want Lance Briggs.  He's one of the top five players at his position, and with our defense desparately needin help, I'd be happy to have him.  I understand that he looks stupid for not wanting over 7 million dollars to play the greatest game ever created, but I can understand that he wants stability...in this age of free agency, it's a very legitimate concern.

I think...
more than stability he wants the signing bonus. The 7.3M on a franchise tag is guaranteed, I believe, but it is still prorated over the season. And it means he'll have to wait an additional year to get that big signing bonus.

He has to think that he can get 10-15M in signing bonuses on the market now, perhaps more, and signing bonuses are checks cut immediately to the player (though the cap ramifications are spread out over many years). That's one reasons player's like SBs so much, they get a fat check up front. From Brigg's perspective, he's losing money at 7M a year because he (feels as though he) should be getting 10-15M, plus base salary.
